Myself and my girlfriend would like to take a holiday in Mentawai. I am an amid surfer and she loves the cost. We do not want to avoid expensive hotels and stay in backpackers rather. What affordable clean backpackers/hostels are advised?

You mean you DO want to avoid the expensive places and stay in a backpackers? Sorry, I’m not the one to ask about that. You could just turn up at Katiet, for example, and stay with locals. That was an option many years ago. I’m not sure now.
