Pengelolahan Wisata Bahari oleh PT. MWB.

Selama ini, PT.Mentawai Wisata Bahari(MWB) menyatakan memegang
hak untuk mengelolah wisata bahari(Surf tourism)di
Mentawai dalam hal pungutan (tax)
sebesar u$5/person/days dengan label ZAP(Zone Agreement Permit)
Perusahaan. Gubernur Sumbar (Zainal bakar) menolak permohonan izin
pemanfaatan ombak dan usaha surfing yang diajukan oleh
PT MWB. Setelah diteliti berdasarkan fakta yang ada
dilapangan PT.MWB tidak memenuhi ketentuan dan
kewajiban yang sesuai dengan izin yang dimilikinya.
Terbukti belum ada pembangunan fisik dilapangan sebagai
sarana penunjang atas usaha yang dilaksanakan. PT.MWB
pantas menerima itu sebab mereka telah mempunyai
riwayat kasus dengan pemda sumbar. Gubernur yang lama
(sebelum Zainal bakar) pernah mencabut izin MARVIP
(Mentawai Archipelago Registration and Visit Approval)
yang dibuat oleh MWB (MARVIP adalah tax yang U$ 5).
Ternyata MWB tidak kehilangan akal dengan
dalih(equivocate)OTODA mereka membujuk Bupati
lama(Badril Bakar) untuk mengeluarkan izin MARVIP dan
ZAP.Syukurlah sekarang ini Badril sudah berhenti dan
tidak ada lagi back up nya MWB dan juga dengan
dicabutnya izin PT.MWB.

PT. MWB' s Management of the Surf Industry

Up until the present day PT. MWB has declared that it has held the right to organize surf tourism in Mentawai in relation to the collection of a tax of US$5 per person per day which is known as ZAP (Zone Agreement Permit). The Governor of West Sumatra (Zainal Bakar) has knocked back the request for permission to make use of the surf[ing resource] and the surfing [business] activities put forward by MWB. Following investigation of the pertinent factors on the ground, PT. MWB have not fulfilled what they have been required and obligated to carry out in accordance with the conditions of their relevant permits. There has clearly not been any infrastructural development in the field as a means to demonstrate what has been accomplished so far. It is proper that PT.MWB accept this since they already have a history with the West Sumatran Government. The Governor prior to Zainal Bakar revoked their MARVIP authority (Mentawai Archipelago Registration and Visit Approval) set up by MWB (MARVIP was a US$5 tax). It seems that MWB did not loose their cool under the conditions of Regional Authority. They persuaded the former Bupati to grant the MARVIP and ZAP permits. Thankfully Badril has already stepped down and is not longer backing up MWB as can be seen in the revoking of PT.MWB’s permit.
